2. GAMES LIST
All games are created from this GAMES LIST form.
The game lineups are entered on the PREP GAME page. The Green diamond button on the top right of this form is the PLAYBALL button.
The games displayed on this form are always sorted by Game Date, but there are several filtering options. Games are displayed by year with 3 filter options:
1. Show only games for a selected team.
2. Show all games by date range.
3. Show ALL games. -
3. TEAM / ROSTER
Before a game can be scored, both away and home teams need to be added to the TEAMS table.
Once teams and rosters are entered, they become a permanent part of the Teams table for that year. Players can be added and removed from the Game Rosters as needed. Team schedules can also be stored and viewed in both weekly and monthly formats.
Teams displayed on this page are always filtered by Year, just as is done for the GAMES LIST page.
Team Stats will display all the key batting and hitting stats for each player. -
4. PLAYERS
The PLAYERS form is where you enter and maintain all the players that play in the games that are scored. Each player is identified in the system by a unique 4-digit number. This unique ID is assigned to all players and is used throughout all game records whenever the player is involved in any offensive or defensive play.
The Edit Form is used to store details for each player including:
1. Throw Right or left
2. Hits Right or Left or Switch
3. Email address and phone number
4. Emergency Contact information
5. Address -
5. PLAYBALL
This form is one of the 3 major centerpieces of the scoring machine (along with BATTERUP and BALL-IN-PLAY). Most of the scoring and viewing functions are found here and this is main staging area for all play action.
The Scoreboard is always displayed in conjunction with this form, as is the case with the BATTERUP and BALL-IN-PLAY forms.
All game scoring begins from this form:
Substitutions, Pinch Hitter and Pinch runner assignments, Play-by-Play, BoxScores, Scorecards, Lineups, rosters, field plays (stolen bases/ wild pitches / pass balls / pickoffs, etc).
Note the BATTER UP button on the right side of this page. This is the next most prominent Scoring page for this system. -
6. BATTERUP
BATTER UP is the second of the 3 main scoring pages.
It is used to record all the pitches that are thrown and the outcomes of each pitch.
Pitch counts are kept here. Not shown here is a second Batter Up form that can be used when there is no need or interest in recording pitch locations. That form does not contain the strike zone element.
Once the ball is hit the IN PLAY (blue button with baseball diamond icon) is selected and the scoring moves on to the BALL-IN-PLAY form, which is the third of the main scoring forms.
If there is no need or interest in keeping the pitch counts, the scorer can simply click on KS, BB, or KC or go directly to the Ball-in-Play button. -
7. BALL IN PLAY
BALL-IN-PLAY is the last of the 3 main scoring pages. This is the busiest of all forms in this system and here is where all the action takes place once a ball is hit into the field of play. Much goes on here, and a live demo is the only way to show how if all works.
But pay attention to the 4 part page frame on the right side of the form. Each player’s ATBAT and each player’s progress on the base paths is entered and displayed in a way very similar to the way such entries are made on a manual scorecard. In the form displayed here, you can see that the R1 player, K.Hiura, was Hit by Pitch in a prior at bat, and then advanced to third base with the single to right-center field by K. Wong(#16). -
8. SUBSTITUTIONS / MOVES
The Substitution and Moves Page (in this case for the HOME team) is invoked from the PLAYBALL page (SUBS button).
It is designed to make the recording of substitutions and defensive moves as quick and efficient as possible. Multiple substitutions and multiple moves (as in a double switch) can be made on this form. And all changes to lineups, batting order, fielder lists, pitching changes, box Scores, Score Cards, etc. are made automatically. -
9. BOXSCORE
Box Scores for hitting and pitching can be generated at any time during and after the game (invoked from the PLAYBALL and GAMEPAGE pages). -
10. SCORECARD
Scorecards can be displayed and printed at any time during the game (from PLAYBALL) or after the game goes final (from GAMEPAGE). The color GREEN is used throughout the program to show plays and stats for the HOME team. The color MAROON is used for the AWAY team. -
11. PLAY BY PLAY / PITCH TRACKING
The Play-By-Play form can be invoked at anytime from both the PLAYBALL form or the GAMEPAGE form. Pitch and Hit Tracking is provided for each ATBAT. -
12. GAME PAGE / RECAP REPORT
When a game goes final, the Game Page is used to view all the results of the Game. One of the most useful and informative of all reports is the Game Recap Report shown here. This report shows the Line Score, the full Box Scores for both teams, and also a full Play-By-Play listing. This report can be printed right away at the end of the game (the HP 200 portable printer works great for this) and can also be emailed to anyone as long as internet / WIFI is available.
